HER HUSBAND GOT ONE YEAR FOR THIS

“Eight days after 36-year-old Nurbanu from Bangladesh divorced her husband of 18 years, he threw acid right in her face. ” – Huffington Post

Try to imagine the pain associated with acid eating away at your skin. Sonali Mukherjee of New Delhi was awakened one night nine years ago, “They came in the dead of night, broke into her home as she slept and poured a cocktail of acids over her face — burning her skin, melting her eyelids, nose, mouth and ears, and leaving her partially deaf and almost blind.” She was just 17.

In India, acid attacks are considered, a “grievous hurt.”

Trade with India is unbalanced, meaning we take in more of their goods than they do ours. It’s the same story with Bangladesh. It’s time for the U.S. to set a precedent and refuse to trade with countries that treat women like garbage.
