Whenever women make strides into powerful positions, there are a number of people ready to demean them in order to minimize their influence. The lack of respect from political pundits on both sides is destructive, but for “conservative” CNN pundit Erick Erickson to liken women’s speeches at the Democratic National Convention as “The Vagina Monologues” is the proverbial slap in the face for women everywhere. Women on both sides of the aisle should call for Erickson’s immediate dismissal using the same yardstick that CNN used for Rick Sanchez when he called John Stewart a bigot and, “implied that the media as a whole are controlled by Jews.” There is no implication in Erickson’s tweet, women are vaginas. And, he was retweeted making his remarks even more despicable given that he has the brand of CNN cloaked around him.
So will CNN summarily dismiss him? Stay tuned.
