Miss Ohio Thinks Pretty Woman is a Good Role Model for Women. America We Have a Problem…

I guess you can’t expect too much from a woman who thinks her wardrobe here is appropriate for Miss Ohio, when she should have been dressed like this. I suppose every generation of women seem to conform to one style, but I have to say that the 21st Century ensemble for young girls lacks style, mainly because there is so little of it. Grace Kelly’s wardrobe in Rear Window could easily fit into today’s style sans then poofy crinoline.

You might not think clothing has much to do with how girl views herself in today’s society, but there is reason to be concerned. Casual Fridays are disappearing for the very same reason young girls are losing all sense of decorum – the way one dresses is an outward depiction how they feel about themselves. Even more disconcerting is that this “mob” mentality is so pervasive, even Miss Ohio, Audrey Bolte, can’t discern the difference between a lady and a prostitute.

This week, at the Miss USA pageant when asked, “Do you think women are depicted in movies and on television in an accurate and positive way? And please give us an example,” she replied:

“I think it depends on the movie. I think there are some movies that depict women in a very positive role, and then some movies that put them in a little bit more of negative role. But by the end of the movie, they show that woman power that I know we all have. Such as movie Pretty Woman. We had a wonderful, beautiful woman, Julia Roberts, and she was having a rough time, but, you know what, she came out on top and she didn’t let anybody stand in her path.”

Uh, I guess she was going through a hard time because SHE WAS A PROSTITUTE! That’s a positive role model, because her “john” fell in love with her?

Susan B. Anthony is turning in her grave, along with all the other women who endured ridicule and hate speech in order to gain women equality.   Argh! GIRLFRIENDS, we have a lot of work to do.
