GIRLFRIEND OF THE WEEK: China’s Wu Juping Catches Child

“[She] kicked off her high-heeled shoes and ran to catch the child.”

Have they cast Wonder Woman yet, because I’m nominating our GIRLFRIEND OF THE WEEK Wu Juping who was simply passing by a multi-level apartment building in Bejing, China and saw a young child dangling from a window.  Without hesitation, she “kicked off her high heels” and caught the two year old just seconds after she fell.  This all according to the Huffington Post and the state run China Central Television.  [Think it’s time to reevaluate the value of women in China?]

The impressive catch was not without its difficulties.  According to the story, “The impact knocked Juping out and sent her crumbling to the ground,” resulting is a broken arm.  But the child was safe.
In an interview Juping said, “It was so urgent. I saw her when she was about to fall and rushed there, and after tens of seconds she fell off. I thought to myself ‘I should stretch my arms to her. Because I am right here, I must get her.’ Then I made it. I caught her in my arms.”

Amazing.
